Facebook’s Black Gaming Creator Program
Facebook has made a concerted effort to invest in Black creators, with their focus now turning on Black gamers with their Black Gaming Creator Program. With Mixer dying out, the competition between the big 3 gaming streaming services (Twitch, Youtube, and Facebook Gaming) continues to heat up.
Facebook is helping Black creators try to become full time streamers and dedicating over $10 million dollars over the next two years to Black creators. Via Facebook: “At Facebook Gaming we firmly believe in positivity, inclusion, and diversity (looks pretty similar to Blerd’s core values as well) in everything we do. We want our creators and viewers to share their love for gaming in an environment that is enjoyable and welcoming. Many Black streamers have to deal with undue racism, especially in the stream comments which can turn them off from pursuing their dreams, so this is welcome messaging.

Black streamers are vastly underrepresented on the major platforms which many struggling to get traction. This is part of the reason we do our “What’s Their Twitch” interviews to get more spotlight on Black streamers and content creators. KingRichard, one of the more popular Twitch streamers, is now helping spread the message about the Black Gaming Creator’s program.
