The Go Mufasa Fortnite Dance – IG Influencer Lands Fortnite Deal

If you play Fortnite, you have no doubt seen the “Go Mufasa” emote and iconic dance move in the game nonstop. The creator of the dance is Instagram influencer Mufasa (@CousinSkeetHer). The dance move was featured in Da Baby’s (a Charlotte native) music video for the 2021 Grammy-nominated song “Bop.” With over 1.2 million followers, Mufasa became one of the first social media influencers to land a “legit” deal with Fortnite.

“When the street’s busy, I know something is going to go viral,” said Mufasa, when he, The Hypeman, and comedian Soufiane Bernoukh recorded their initial viral dance video to the “Bop” song, which featured the “Go Mufasa” dance. The video received over 200,000 views in 24 hours. In October 2019, when Da Baby performed in Washington, DC, Mufasa and Da Baby linked up to create another viral moment, sparking the #bopchallenge. This lead Mufasa to being featured in the official music video for the certified Gold single “Bop.”

In June, Fortnite reached out to Mufasa to use his “Go Mufasa” dance as an emote. Mufasa is excited about their partnership and loves that fans are enjoying the emote! He is optimistic that, in the future, gamers will see more of his iconic dance moves featured in the game. You can get the emote “Go Mufasa” for skin at the Item Shop on Fortnite.

About Jeff Obeng

Entertainer and actor Jeff Obeng created the Mufasa character in 2018. Jeff knew he wanted to entertain and spread joy to people, living by the mantra “Negative vibes don’t belong, good energy only.” This led Jeff to develop his own skits, which generated viral success. Jeff’s sketch videos have over 20 million views on various social media platforms and have sparked five various social media challenge campaigns: like #FridayChallenge, #BopChallenge, #GoCrazyChallenge, and more. Jeff has partnered with multiple corporations for digital marketing campaigns ranging from Footlocker to Epic Games. He has partnered with artists like Beyoncé, Cardi B, DaBaby, Lil’ Wayne, and Kanye West.

About Mufasa

Mufasa is a happy spirited, legal immigrant from Africa. He isn’t afraid to be himself and loves to dance at any given opportunity. You might see him wearing the same outfit because he’s extremely cheap, but that’s what makes him stand out.
