Grace and Peace Blerd Fam! If you didn’t know, Twitch is the platform for everything gaming related and creativity. You can find some of the biggest names in the gaming community there. I wanted to create a spotlight for growing Twitch streamers that I know you will enjoy.

Give us an introduction to who you are and the in and outs about your broadcast. Share with the class about your Twitch channel and your community. 

What’s up guys! My name is Matt but I also go by Blind! I’m a 22-year-old twitch streamer from North Carolina and I stream Call of Duty & Apex Legends. I have always enjoyed shooters and people tell me I’m different. My channel is designed to be a place where people can come and decompress and chat about their favorite anime/ tv shows. I’m also a bit of a sneakerhead so that may come up in the chats as well I just want to create a space where everyone feels comfortable and can converse with each other without feeling judged. I’m really looking to build a family through Twitch because you never know what people are going through and I feel like that’s a great way to learn others and maybe find someone who can relate to what you’re dealing with. 

Twitch is all about games and creativity. What type of content do you stream on your channel? 

I mainly Stream Call of Duty and Apex Legends, but I really play to entertain and interact with others while giving them something fun to watch so they have something to be invested in. 

What made you start this journey in streaming and when did you start? 

I haven’t been streaming for very long at all I believe I’ve been consistently streaming for about a month and a half. I started my Twitch journey because I enjoy playing video games and I want to share that passion with the world, I also want to be able to connect with others that have similar interests that I may not be able to connect with normally. 

What are some of the issues and challenges that you’ve faced on Twitch and how did you overcome them? 

So far the two biggest challenges I’ve faced on Twitch are making my viewers feel comfortable and making sure my content is unique. I want people to feel like they can talk to me and not everyone can do that easily so I want to be able to let people know that I’m open to any conversation they would like to have. And as far as being unique, there are a lot of people who stream Call of Duty & Apex so I have to really focus on what it is that will make me stand out from the rest, I’d like to think I have a pretty good personality and I’m creative so I just had to put them together and really be myself to let my channel shine 

What are some of the resources and support that you use, that’s out there for creating a broadcast on Twitch? 

The Resources I use for Twitch are Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. I use these to create my banners and my panels which helps give my channel a more professional and neat look, I am also in the process of getting a capture card so that I can record more game play for better quality content when it’s time to post it. 

Blerd is all things nerd and geek through a people of color culture lens. What makes you a blerd? 

What makes me a BLERD? I think the fact that I ONLY watch anime now is a big factor in that. I love art and the art behind anime is extremely captivating to me. Also, the storytelling is so much better than American television that it wasn’t hard to make the switch. Anime is honestly just the best thing to watch.

You’ve only been given 3 games to play for the rest of your life, what are you playing and why? 

If I had to choose only 3 Games to play for the rest of my life I would have to choose Halo 3, Naruto Storm 4, Ark Survival Evolved. I’m choosing those three games because I feel like they give me the most variety. Halo being a classic shooter, The fighting style for Naturo Storm 4, and the theme behind Ark allows me to play those games without missing other ones. 

Which video game character is bae? 

Cortana from Halo is bae! Hands down, simply because she made Master Chief great. You know Cartona was awesome if Master Chief follow her across the galaxy to save her. 

Your favorite person is making your favorite dish, who is it and what is it? 

If my favorite person made my favorite dish I’d have my mom make me some Mac & Cheese, nothing tastes better than southern Mac especially when mom makes it! 

If you could be any superhero who would it be and why? 

If I could be any superhero I’d be Batman because even though he’s human with no powers he’s feared by even those who do have them which makes him lethal
