Today, I want to introduce to you DomThaaKidd! If you are into retro gaming, this is your person! From Final Fantasy on PS2, Donkey Kong on N64, and Metal Gear Solid on the PS, just to name a few. I wanted to share his story with you. So “What’s Their Twitch?”, you can find DomThaaKidd at www.twitch.tv/DomThaaKidd. He streams Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 4 pm EST and Saturdays at 2 pm EST. Follow DomThaaKidd on his social media, Twitter and Instagram @DomThaaKidd. Also, join DomThaaKidd & The Goomba Gang Discord at https://discord.gg/G4EBGuw.
Give us an introduction to who you are and the in and outs about your broadcast. Share with the class about your Twitch channel and your community.
Well, I be that Dom to Thaa Kidd or DomThaaKidd for Twitchers and among others. The ins and outs of my broadcast consist of me providing high energy content regardless of what game I’m playing or any activity I’m doing at the time. I tend to use a lot of profanity during my streams especially in which a game can be extremely trolly or luck is involved but never raging to the point where I’m about to let an appliance go flying out of the window.
My twitch channel and Peepz (community) consist of The Goomba Gang, we are a lovable and relatable group of individuals who love to stream, draw, and entertain, I’m also apart of a wonderful stream team called the Ascension Alliance or AA for short.
Twitch is all about games and creativity. What type of content do you stream on your channel?
So the type of material (content) that exists on my channel is a variety of things involving mostly retro games, modern games here and there and I have been experiencing newer types of streams involving playing The Sims, Animal Crossing, and going into the Just Chatting category as well.
What made you start this journey in streaming and when did you start?
On Dec 31st, 2019, I started pacing around the house wondering just what I can do more besides going to work and coming home to shower, eat and hop on the game for hours at a time. It started to really weigh down my mental to a point where I felt as though I wasn’t doing enough productivity throughout the day, so I weighed my options either to get a part-time job or streaming and one of my co-workers suggested that I go with the latter because since I was already playing video games on my off-time, why not be productive while doing so. So on Jan 13, 2020, I went live for the first time I was definitely nervous had the sweat piling up in my hands, chest you name it. After a few people started to pop in the chat and giving props on my gameplay and how I was interacting with them, all those nervous feelings went out the window and I started being myself and having fun while doing it.
What are some of the issues and challenges that you’ve faced on Twitch and how did you overcome them?
Honestly I never really had any issues or challenges except for at times in the beginning when I would try and compare myself to the next stream asking myself why am I not getting the amount of peeps in the building as their level or why isn’t my presentation as dope as theirs etc, etc. Bottom line is that everybody moves at their own pace and everyone has their path in their journey some progress faster and others slower, it’s all in the game.
What are some of the resources and support that you use, that’s out there for creating a broadcast on Twitch?
There’s plenty of resources out there that can help you achieve that confidence level or ideas that’ll push you in the right direction of hitting that Going Live button, however, it all depends on your self-confidence level and the will to make proper changes to your craft. For a prime example of giving out good advice, a good friend of mine and streamer; Dads1stTime he has this beautiful vision of building and connecting with streamers of all types, whether you’re a retro streamer, just chatter or anything under the sun, his visions and advice are a great way to give you ideas and implement seeds in the brain to help initiate what could possibly be one’s niche to growing on twitch or in general.
Blerd is all things nerd and geek through a people of color culture lens. What makes you a blerd?
Well, for once it feels good to be a Blerd out here in these Twitch streetz!! And second, what makes me one is my knowledge on video game history going down the likes of how certain games we know and love were started, who was on the development team, the difference between publishers and developers, and among others. I like to consider myself a standout from others, maybe an OutKast others can decide.
You’ve only been given 3 games to play for the rest of your life, what are you playing and why?
Super Mario World: One of my favorite games to play as a child and even as an Adult (we still spare the Goombas lives in this one).
GoldenEye 007: Multiplayer and OddJob, you don’t need to say anything else.
Resident Evil 4: I can recall getting the game on the GameCube back in 2005 at 9 AM and didn’t get off until 1 AM.
Which video game character is bae?
I would say Trish from the Devil May Cry series is Bae on the strength of her rocking with Dante from the get-go, as in the 1st game even though she tried to underhand em, Dante forgave and forgot and she stuck with, that’s what’s needed in these gaming streetz!
What’s a game that you absolutely hate but everyone else might like?
Well, that’s mostly ALOT of these mainstream games that blows up for no apparent reason i.e your ForkNightz and CODs, nothing against those who play the games, those bamas just aren’t for me.
Your favorite person is making your favorite dish, who is it and what is it?
Mom Dukes and she’s making Candy Yams, nothing against anyone elses but she know who to make them a particular way that’s been my favor since I was a youngin.
If you could be any superhero who would it be and why?
Batman, I could roam the streetz at night, slapping foolz, and come home to a nice cribo and go drive a lambo thru Gotham City.
-Playstation or Xbox?
It’s been PlayStation since 97 so that’s a breeze.
-Pepsi or Coke?

McDonald’s, on the strength that those fries be hitting at 2 am.
-Super Mario or Sonic?
Super Mario, this man been in the bizness for 30+ years, longevity out c’here.
