Grace and Peace Blerd Fam! If you didn’t know, Twitch is the platform for everything gaming related and creativity. You can find some of the biggest names in the gaming community there. I wanted to create a spotlight for growing Twitch streamers that I know you will enjoy. 

This round, I want to introduce to you ThatGirlNisha! She’s an amazing person and an awesome streamer. I wanted to share her story with you. Give us an introduction to who you are and the in and outs about your broadcast. 

Hello, my name is Antonisha or Nisha to most. I go by ThatGirlNisha here on twitch because it resembles my handle on PSN: THAT_GIRL_BAD. I’m a stay at home mom of 3 beautiful children and I’ve always loved gaming. I am a YouTube mom or Cleanfluencer and a CranioWarrior Mom to the strongest little boy I know. 

Share with the class about your Twitch channel and your community. 

My community is called The Tribe because everyone earns respect and we vibe together keeping everything as organic as possible. I stream to get escape from life and help others who also want to get away from life and trials being thrown at them even if it is for a little bit. 

Twitch is all about games and creativity. What type of content do you stream on your channel? 

Simulation Games are my go-to games: The Sims 4, American Truck Simulator, Bus Simulator 18, and 7 Days to Die. I love the art of these simulation games because I get to do things I never would in real life. I get to goof-off and express myself in an enjoyable way for The Tribe and create things one could not possibly imagine doing. I guess you can say I like to stand out. 

What made you start this journey in streaming and when did you start? 

I want to brag a little and say if it wasn’t for my husband’s support and my heavenly father, I would not be where I am in my streaming career. Funny story, 2 years ago my husband literally went to work one day and came home with the idea of my streaming on Twitch and asked me to look into it. As we were watching others, he looked at me and said “I can see you doing this and you would be awesome at it”. Of course, I went with it and I haven’t looked back since. 

What are some of the issues and challenges that you’ve faced on Twitch and how did you overcome them? 

Since I began streaming I have faced the worst things imaginable. Being called out of my name multiple times, hate shown towards me because I am a Black Female Gamer, told I was trash and needed to get back in the kitchen, to even experiencing hate from some family because of what I love to do. Have some of these instances made me want to give up? Yes, they have but I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. I overcame these obstacles by talking to others who have experienced the same things and also chatting with my supportive family. I stay focused on the positive aspects of it all because most haters come for you when you’re doing something right and Honey! I must have the sauce because the hate keeps coming. You have to keep going because those haters think they can break you. I just brush the hate off and keep it pushing. You have what it takes, you have to take what comes with it because everyone has an opinion. 

What are some of the resources and support that you use, that’s out there for creating a broadcast on Twitch? 

My main source for creating my channel was Canva. I use that to design all my panels for my channel and cover photos as well for YouTube. If I could suggest any software to use to make your stream Streamlabs, Streamlabs Chatbot, and Streamlabs OBS to get your broadcast where it needs to be. I use it to add my overlays and record videos for my YouTube channel as well. I also use iMovie to do all of my editing and I would highly suggest it as well because it is the best Free software you can use if you are a MAC user. 

Blerd is all things nerd and geek through a people of color culture lens. What makes you a blerd? 

Electronics, mainly computers, have always been fascinating to me and it possibly the reason behind me being a blerd. I am an engineer and I hear that we are rare so I use it to my advantage. Gaming, collecting some action figures, and being “weird” also play a part. No shame in my game. I love being me. 

Round 2: 

You’ve only been given 3 games to play for the rest of your life, what are you playing and why? 

The first game is The Sims. I game without limits and this game literally has no limits. I can do anything and be who I want to be or want others to me. The second game is 7 days to die. I can get so lost in playing this game. Even though it is during the zombie apocalypse, there are so many ways to survive in that game. The third game would probably be American Truck Simulator. The drives seem so realistic and relaxing even if it is a game. 

Which video game character is bae? 

Arthur Morgan is an absolute bae! Strong mind, kind heart, loving soul, free spirit, and that beard!!!! 

What’s a game that you absolutely hate but everyone else might like? 

Let’s just say most horror games in general. You will not catch me playing any spooky games except 7 Days to Die because I am a huge chicken but I know others enjoy the thrill from horror games 

Your favorite person is making your favorite dish, who is it and what is it? 

My husband’s tacos. I LOVE tacos!! He always tries to keep it as authentic as he can even though we’re not Hispanic lol 

If you could be any superhero who would it be and why? 

Domino or “Lucky” from Deadpool. I love her and the vibe she brings. Whoever thought to have Luck as a superpower was an absolute genius where everything works out in your favor.
