00:00 what is up Earth's Mightiest subscribers 00:03 it's Ernie blur without fear welcome 00:06 back to the channel okay so today's 00:09 video we are going to be getting a 00:10 little treat by way of chips sidarsky 00:14 and Terry Dodson and that is x-men 00:18 Fantastic Four number one of four this 00:22 is kind of a comic I think a lot of 00:24 people have been waiting on I think a 00:26 lot of people have been wanting to see 00:28 what's gonna happen we've been teased 00:30 this since house of X number one and 00:32 some would even dare say even before 00:35 that during the Jonathan Hickman 00:37 Fantastic Four run there been some 00:39 things that have kind of correlated 00:41 between the two but now that you know 00:44 all of this has kind of come to a close 00:46 house max has come to a close 00:47 powers of 10 has come to a close dawn of 00:50 X has already begun we've already seen 00:52 how the mutants of krakoa are now 00:55 dealing with this new world that they 00:57 are in now that they've kind of taken 00:58 ownership of themselves and the question 01:01 that has still been left unanswered is 01:04 of all the omega-level mutant x' why has 01:08 franklin richards not come to krakoa 01:11 and we're gonna answer that question as 01:13 well as maybe tackle a couple of other 01:15 possibly uncomfortable themes that are 01:17 in this comic that I know tends to upset 01:20 people because they don't like politics 01:22 and social justice and their comics but 01:24 it's gonna be a thing we're gonna talk 01:26 about all of that and more right now 01:29 but first let's hit that intro for the 01:33 wise wrath on the arena one is brother 01:36 chief any songs they prefer to lies 01:38 that's any beautiful a trip then have 01:40 purple eyes you can't see me you Stevie 01:42 Wonder in have our priest more ever 01:44 loses that won't be before we get 01:46 started if you want to see more awesome 01:48 comic book videos like this wing it only 01:50 takes two clicks to become one of 01:51 Earth's Mightiest subscribers click 01:54 quick this comic is spending a lot of 01:57 plates and we're going to right now it's 01:59 done done pretty well it's actually done 02:02 very well chip Starsky is just he's just 02:06 on point I feel like there's really no 02:08 other way to say it this comic basically 02:10 is telling us how Franklin Richards has 02:13 been dealing with a being born into a 02:15 family as famous as a fantastic for 02:17 having all of this pressure and weight 02:20 kind of instantaneously hoisted upon 02:23 himself because he is little bit born to 02:25 Marvel's first family not only is he 02:28 born to famous parents but he has also 02:30 be has powers of his own and not only 02:34 does he have powers he has powers that 02:36 essentially make him a god Franklin 02:39 Richards is listed as a omega-level 02:41 mutant on a universal level he is for 02:46 all intents and purposes probably one of 02:49 the more powerful of the Omega level 02:52 reality war purse but the other problem 02:55 he has to deal with which is Exhibit C 02:56 he is losing his powers and he doesn't 02:59 really know why his powers have actually 03:02 been a plan contention for him for I 03:04 would say the last 10 15 issues give or 03:08 take a fantastic for this is something 03:10 that is not just been in the Fantastic 03:12 Four comic but it's also been a part of 03:14 almost every crossover the Fantastic 03:16 Four have been a part of since the 03:17 Fantastic Four relaunched under dance 03:19 law every time Franklin Richards uses 03:21 powers they become diminished he begins 03:23 to lose them more and more and more he 03:25 has literally gone for being arguably 03:28 probably the one of the most powerful 03:30 beings on the face of the planet to 03:32 being someone who could just as easily 03:34 be you serving you your coffee at 03:37 Starbucks next week and that's no shade 03:39 against baristas who work at Starbucks 03:41 I appreciate my baristas also my wife 03:44 was a barista for over ten years so 03:47 no shade just saying that you go from 03:50 Fantastic Four to Brees that's a pretty 03:52 you know you get you know I'm talking 03:54 about anyway with all this going on 03:56 everything that's happening and 03:58 everyone's ducks kind of being put in a 03:59 row after the opening of Dawn of X 04:02 Charles Xavier magneto have now turned 04:04 their attention to the world's most 04:06 powerful mutant who probably won't be a 04:08 mutant for much longer they want to get 04:10 their hands on Franklin Richards and 04:13 bring him back to cacoa and get him back 04:15 into the fold put him where he belongs 04:17 and the thing is they already kind of 04:20 suspect that they're gonna face 04:21 opposition from Reed and Sue Richards 04:24 they already know this they anticipated 04:26 it this is a news they know especially 04:29 after house of X number one when Cyclops 04:31 encounter them they're already prepared 04:34 to battle the x-men in case they come 04:37 looking for Franklin I also found it 04:39 really interesting that Charles is going 04:41 to use Cape pride as a way to try to 04:44 shrink Franklin Richards 04:47 into coming to krakoa like you a lot of 04:49 people may forget that in this is even 04:51 brought up in the comic that back in 04:52 Fantastic Four vs. x-men the original 04:55 Fantastic Four vs. x-men four back in 04:57 1987 Kate was actually on Latveria and 05:01 helped by Doctor Doom Franklin used to 05:04 come and hang out with her while she was 05:06 you know trying to be helped he would 05:08 constantly like come and talk to her and 05:10 they became friends pretty damn close 05:13 close as two people could probably get 05:14 without it being a stat Sarge 05:17 to show I'm speaking facetiously I'm not 05:19 making light of statutory rape anyways 05:21 they want to use Kate to try and I guess 05:24 play on Franklin Richards nostalgia if 05:27 you will and as far as Franklin Richards 05:29 is concerned the whole thing surrounding 05:31 him the biggest problem is if I say yeah 05:32 he feels like his dad can't help him he 05:34 feels like his dad Reed Richards the 05:36 smartest man on earth most likely is not 05:40 able to save his own son and it makes 05:43 him feel bitter and even though I feel 05:44 like Franklin probably knows deep down 05:46 that yeah sure it's not his dad's actual 05:50 fault it's just it's just the one thing 05:51 on earth he can't fix and this even 05:53 becomes a running theme a little later 05:55 on when he's talking 05:56 Ben Grimm Franklin and Ben are sharing 05:59 some milkshakes and next thing you know 06:01 Ben is trying to explain them that yep 06:03 your dad is not just intentionally 06:05 trying to not help you but he does bring 06:07 up something that is a major point of 06:09 contention I think for both of them as a 06:10 fact that yeah Reid is a smartest man on 06:13 earth but he can't fix his own son and 06:16 he can't fix his best friend Reid has 06:19 never been crazy about the idea that 06:21 Franklin is as powerful as he was I mean 06:23 yeah sure he didn't mind using it when 06:25 it suited his purposes but for the most 06:27 part he's always been concerned about 06:29 the fact that Franklin is basically a 06:32 God a God who could create universes 06:35 just at the blink of an eye and of 06:37 course he always needed someone to back 06:39 his play and be his muscle on the 06:42 Fantastic Four so why would he go out of 06:44 his way to fix the one person who could 06:46 fit that role and you gotta admit you 06:49 look at this art here and what you what 06:51 Terry Dodson is putting together here 06:52 this picture he's painting is letting 06:54 you know that even though Ben probably 06:56 knows deep down this isn't really true 06:57 it did get his wheels turning and I even 07:00 appreciate the themes of here of what 07:02 sue is trying to explain to read because 07:03 Reed is a man of science he doesn't he 07:05 doesn't really know how to rationalize 07:06 things can a common sense type of way 07:09 but sue is kind of the voice of reason 07:11 in all this and of course being the 07:13 mother of Franklin Richards moms usually 07:15 have that kind of intuition even if she 07:16 kinda has to break it down in layman's 07:18 terms for Reed Richards the fact that he 07:20 grew up knowing that he was gonna be 07:22 this one thing this one great thing and 07:25 all of a sudden he knows he's not gonna 07:26 be that thing anymore and now he has to 07:28 try and find his way and that's what sue 07:30 finally makes Reed understand if he even 07:32 understands it at all now what I think 07:35 is really kind of grazie here is when 07:37 the x-men pull up on the an C Street 07:40 because at this particular point this is 07:42 when themes of segregation and 07:44 separation come into play and it is 07:47 Manny it's probable man it's one of 07:50 those things that I know like I said a 07:51 lot of people don't like it they're like 07:53 we gonna talk of these things we're good 07:56 but I mean it just it is what it is and 07:59 at the end of the day yeah 08:00 should there be segregation should there 08:02 be separation is it better for two 08:06 people two groups of people to just 08:09 segregate themselves from each other or 08:11 you or rather just be segregating you by 08:13 force from each other for the betterment 08:16 of their futures or should people who 08:18 are oppressed just remove themselves 08:20 from a situation that could potentially 08:22 harm them it's one of those things that 08:23 like you know there could be an argument 08:25 made you for you separating oneself 08:28 there could be an argument made for not 08:30 separating oneself and I'm not here to 08:32 make that argument for you but I'm just 08:33 here to let you know those themes are 08:36 very well there I think I probably been 08:38 one of the people who's been the most 08:39 vocal about the fact that in a real 08:41 world setting I don't really think that 08:42 separation is the answer to fixing 08:44 issues regarding prejudice and racism 08:46 because all that really means is that 08:48 you're walking away from a problem the 08:50 problem is still there and it will 08:52 probably come back again because as we 08:54 all know history repeats itself but this 08:56 is a comic book it's fantasy fictional 08:59 characters so in this particular 09:01 instance I say hey if the Mules 09:03 want to go take their ball and go play 09:07 elsewhere that is on them but I will say 09:10 man same xavier in this position where 09:13 yeah he's recognizing yes we are better 09:15 than humans we are above you I mean he's 09:18 not saying as bluntly as magneto is but 09:20 he has to agree that yes we are better 09:24 than you we are embracing that we are 09:27 better than you and Reid is just 09:30 throwing out the fact that he doesn't 09:32 like how the x-men have been doing 09:33 business kind of echoing what a lot of 09:35 naysayers uh in the X Comics community 09:39 or he would even say something outside 09:41 of the X Comics community have been have 09:43 felt about the way that you know the 09:44 mutants are handling business lately 09:46 they don't like the fact they become 09:47 isolationist they don't like the fact 09:49 that the innovative separated themselves 09:52 or see themselves as being better than 09:53 normal people when in fact in a 09:54 real-world setting if any of those same 09:56 people became what the x-men are they 10:00 would probably think they're better than 10:01 most people that just this is reality 10:02 but some people don't see it that way 10:04 neither read nor sue want to give up 10:08 Franklin they don't want 10:09 franklin to go to krakoa but the thing 10:11 is franklin it seems like he really 10:13 wants to go he seems conflicted at first 10:16 of course he does seem conflicted but it 10:18 doesn't seem like he doesn't want to be 10:20 there he has a curiosity and that's why 10:23 kate is there because all the while 10:26 while sue who I kind of feel like yeah 10:29 she kind of felt threatened she felt as 10:31 though her family was being threatened 10:33 so she acted in anger in a way that yeah 10:36 she attacked Magneto I kind of 10:39 personally feel like that I kind of feel 10:40 like yeah even though Xavier and Magneto 10:42 are talking greezy as I don't think that 10:46 was really a necessary pull there 10:48 because it actually escalated the 10:49 situation to the point where now it's 10:52 not just sue versus Magneto it's now 10:55 becoming Johnny Storm versus Bobby Drake 10:58 it's becoming the x-men versus the 11:00 Fantastic Four in the middle of Yancy 11:03 Street now there are a couple of points 11:05 where I do feel like yeah maybe magneto 11:06 is out of line in the situation where 11:08 he's saying oh you're basically trying 11:10 to say the suit has no right to try and 11:12 keep Franklin from going to Rico but at 11:14 the end of the damage kind of oh she is 11:15 his mom for Christ's sakes but the real 11:17 problem in this comic and I think 11:19 there's gonna be a very major point of 11:21 contention for a lot of people is the 11:23 fact that when Franklin who sees an 11:25 opportunity while everyone's distracted 11:26 to just run through the gate and go to 11:29 krakoa 11:30 when he runs through it he literally 11:32 runs through it coming out the other 11:35 side 11:36 he doesn't even crash into it the way 11:38 that Kate did in Marauders number one he 11:41 literally runs through the gate and it's 11:44 all because of Reed and it makes me 11:47 wonder what has Reed been up to I mean 11:50 yeah his powers are going away his 11:52 powers are failing him but now we 11:55 learned that the reason why he can't go 11:57 through that gate isn't because his 11:59 powers have officially gone away it's 12:02 because Reed made a device to basically 12:05 cover up his mutant x-gene 12:08 and with his mutant 12:09 Jean covered up he can't go through the 12:11 gates and he did this specifically 12:13 because he knew about the gate that was 12:15 outside of their apartment he could also 12:18 knew that one day Franklin would try and 12:20 go through it and he didn't want him to 12:22 so he put this device in Franklin and 12:25 basically took away his choice from him 12:27 and it also goes back to an earlier 12:29 conversation that they had right before 12:31 all this happened Reed told Charles that 12:33 he's trying to force a situation into 12:36 resolving itself before the time is 12:39 right and now Xavier is reminding Reed 12:42 that maybe just maybe this whole 12:45 situation that they don't have to do 12:47 anything the x-men are going to go back 12:49 to cacoa 12:50 and this whole situation will resolve 12:53 itself in time on its own even later on 12:56 when xavier z' talking to Cyclops he 12:58 recognizes that they don't have to 13:00 approach Franklin anymore he will come 13:02 to them because of what we did Reed 13:05 violated Franklin's trust and as a 13:08 result of that Franklin with the help of 13:10 Illyria who seems more than happy to 13:12 want to help him find his place on quark 13:15 oh it may be more just because she wants 13:17 his room but also because she does feel 13:18 that yes that Reed was wrong for doing 13:20 what he did he'll everyone agrees Ben 13:23 even agrees sue even agrees even though 13:27 she didn't want Franklin to go she still 13:30 agrees what he did was on some fresh 13:32 shit and getting back to Valyria she's 13:34 so anxious to help Franklin she helps 13:37 him stow away on the Marauder but the 13:39 problem is the Marauder isn't going back 13:41 to kokoa it seems that they're going 13:43 somewhere else they have a mission right 13:45 now to go pick up some refugees the only 13:47 problem is they have been attacked by 13:50 dr. doom anyways I thought those are 13:54 really interesting comic I like this 13:56 first issue there's a lot of good stuff 13:57 to pick apart here I know a lot of 13:59 people are probably gonna get pissed off 14:00 about some of the themes in it and 14:02 that's fine I mean honestly if you 14:04 haven't noticed by now that there's 14:05 social themes in x-men comics I don't 14:07 know what to tell you but I think it's a 14:09 good comic I think it's a good kickoff 14:10 ship sidarsky literally came in and laid 14:12 his dick on the table in regards to how 14:16 he wrote this issue I mean this was kind 14:18 of like a hey hold my beer tight moment 14:20 in regards to like what Jonathan hit 14:22 done with the x-men I feel like chip 14:23 sidarsky is gonna try and reinvent that 14:25 with this whole x-men Fantastic Four 14:28 crossover I mean it's only four issues 14:30 I'm hoping that Franklin gets his powers 14:33 fixed and joins the xmin that would be 14:35 amazing 14:36 and I would even like for the Fantastic 14:38 Four at the end of this to actually him 14:40 maybe get over themselves and maybe be 14:42 friends with the x-men maybe help the 14:45 x-men hell maybe even we could figure 14:47 out why you know if he can figure out 14:49 how to create something to keep Franklin 14:51 from going through the crack Owen Gates 14:53 maybe he could figure out how to fix 14:54 Kate's problem you never know let me 14:57 know what you thought about x-men 15:00 Fantastic Four number one like ship 15:02 sidarsky and Terri Dodson
